1,000 Miles
This is so exciting! A dozen or so adventurous motorcyclists (including yours truly) are riding 1,000 miles to raise money for Y Me Breast Cancer Support. Those riders who complete the course in less than 24 hours will also earn entrance into the Iron Butt Association!
1K in One Day
This is a fund-raiser, and I am all about raising funds for great causes. Unlike cancer research and awareness organizations, Y-Me is a counseling and support service. Compassionate counseling is provided by breast cancer survivors for women who have been diagnosed. Y-Me helps people deal with the uncertainties and fears that come with the discovery of breast cancer.
$1K for 1K in One Day
I am riding my trusty steed, CERUS, into this battle. We are raising $1 per mile in pledges and gifts, and all of it goes straight to Y-Me. So if I can find 100 people willing to chip in $10, we will have this thing whipped.
The ride is organized by Bike Bike Productions, and supported by Patriot Harley-Davidson of Fairfax, VA. All riders must raise a minimum of $50 to ride, but that is wimpy! Cancer is serious, and if I am going to stay awake and focused for 24 hours, I am going to need lots of support. And a few Power Bars!
